Daniel's recommendations for
KPFA's election of
August 2016 for the
Local Station Board (LSB)
This summer KPFA will be holding an important election for the Local Station Board (LSB). Nine seats are open. I'm recommending the UCR candidates.
For a decade, I've been closely observing the situation at the station; it's much like George Orwell's "Animal Farm," where a relatively small clique takes over. That sort of struggle happens in a lot of progressive organizations — it's grassroots vs. a status quo clique. At KPFA, being a radio station, this affects programming, whether to be an NPR-lite type station, or to be a voice for progressive grassroots social movements.
Here are the UCR (UNITED FOR COMMUNITY RADIO) candidates (listed in random order). Please vote for all of them. And, for more information, please visit the websites at the bottom of this page.
The DEADLINE is September 30th. Ballots must be received by then -- just being in the mail won't do it. So if you're a member, please send your ballot NOW!
